The BM0489S Table Bench is, with its woven paper cord seat, a new interpretation of BĂžrge Mogensenâs minimalist Table Bench from 1958. The design is characterised by its understated elegance, where the solid oak is softened by rounded edges and woven paper cord in a basket weave pattern. BM0489 comes in two sizes, and this long version is a versatile piece of furniture that works in a hallway, at the foot of a bed or as a sofa or side table in the living room.
A long version of the versatile BM0488 Table Bench was originally designed in 1958 and presented as part of Mogensenâs âconstruction furnitureâ concept, where the vision was to create multifunctional and durable furniture in line with changing interior design needs.
The BM0489 Table Bench is a reinterpretation of the original design in which rattan has been been replaced with double plane-weave FSC-certified paper cord for a fresh, organic look. Carl Hansen & SĂžn has more than 70 years of experience at working with paper cord, and it takes an experienced craftsman six hours to weave the 335 metres of cord to produce a finished piece of furniture. The new interpretation of BĂžrge Mogensenâs Table Bench creates an elegant interplay between two organic materials â the beautifully rounded oak and tightly woven paper cord.
